APJATEL's Hope For The New Minister Of Komdigi To Accelerate Digital Transformation

BOGOR - Chairman of the Telecommunication Network Operators Association (APJATEL) Jerry Mangasas Swandy welcomed the presence of Meutya Hafid as the new Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs for the period 2024-2029.

Jerry hopes that the collaboration previously established with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics will continue under the leadership of the new minister, along with two deputy ministers.

"We hope that from APJATEL, with the presence of a new Minister with two Deputy Ministers, we will not stop the existing collaboration and APJATEL, one of the national strategic associations, has been able to encourage as an enabler to other parties, including the APJII association," said Jerry at the APJATEL National Conference (MUNAS) Wednesday, October 24 in Bogor.

Jerry also revealed that fiber optics is at the core of national telecommunications infrastructure, particularly in deploying networks from backbone to backhaul, while APJI is holding many backhauls to last mile.

For the coming year, Jerry revealed that APJATEL together with the Indonesian Telematics Society (MasTel) and the entire telecommunications ecosystem plan to create a roadmap related to the development of network connectivity and utilization in Indonesia.

One of the important focuses is to encourage technological utilization, especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), so that Indonesia does not lag behind in global digital transformation.

"So that in the end, Indonesian technology, especially in digital transformation, is not left behind with foreign countries, in fact, it has become an enabler in several sectors, including MSMEs," he said further.

In an economic condition that is experiencing deflation and declining people's purchasing power, Jerry hopes that the telecommunications sector, especially fiber optics, can act as a complement that supports the national economic ecosystem, encouraging economic recovery through inclusive digital transformation.
