Prior To Retirement, Jokowi Teken PP Increased Salaries And Judge Allowances
JAKARTA - The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signed Government Regulation (PP) Number 44 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to PP Number 94 of 2012 concerning Financial Rights and Facilities of Judges Under the Supreme Court.
Jokowi signed the PP on October 18, 2024. This means that Jokowi signed a PP change in the salaries and allowances of judges two days before his retirement as President of the Republic of Indonesia.
"The main salary of the judge as referred to in Article 2 letter a is given every month based on the space group stipulated for the rank and working period of the judge class," reads Article 3 paragraph (1) of PP Number 44 of 2024 as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 22.
In the section considering the PP, it is stated that the state provides welfare guarantees for judges, as state officials who exercise judicial power.
This is done in order to maintain the independence of judges in carrying out their duties and responsibilities in the implementation of judicial power.
"The amount of the principal salary of the judge as referred to in paragraph (1) is stated in Attachment I which is an inseparable part of this Government Regulation," excerpts Article 3 paragraph (2) of PP Number 44 of 2024.
Based on Attachment I of PP Number 44 of 2024, the basic salary of judges in the general court, religious justice, and state administrative justices is determined based on the rank and working period of the class.
The lowest basic salary is judge Group III a working period of 0 years, which is IDR 2,785,700. Meanwhile, the highest basic salary is judge Group IV e with a working period of 32 years, which is IDR 6,373,200.

The basic salary increased when compared to PP Number 94 of 2012. Previously, the basic salary of judge Group III a 0 year working period was IDR 2,064,100 and judge Group IV e worked for 32 years was only IDR 4,978,000.
In addition, allowances for judges' positions in the general court environment, religious justices, state administrative courts, and military courts have also increased.
Based on Attachment II of PP Number 44 of 2024, the middle judge for youth / deputy colonel at the appeal level received a position allowance of Rp. 38,200,000, which was previously only Rp. 27,200,000.
Meanwhile, the pre-main judge at the first level of the Special Class IA Court received a position allowance of Rp. 19,600,000. Previously, the allowance for judges at that level was only Rp. 14,000,000.
