Two Important Targets Of Prabowo Subianto For The Ministry Of Youth And Sports

President Prabowo Subianto has charged two important targets to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) for the 2024-2029 term of service.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports will be led by Menpora Dito Ariotedjo and Deputy Minister Taufik Hidayat who were just sworn in on Monday, October 21, 2024.

Taufik revealed that one of Prabowo's wishes is that Indonesia's achievements can increase when appearing at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

"Yesterday I was reminded by the President that Indonesia at the Olympics was more than two gold. God willing, we will not only think about one or two years, but until 2028," said Taufik Hidayat.

Getting more than two gold medals in one edition of the Olympics is actually included in Indonesia's target in the Paris 2024 edition. However, this target failed to be met.

While in France, Indonesia got two golds from weightlifting and rock climbing. The record repeated the same success when the Olympics were held in Barcelona 1992.

Taufik revealed that another important target that the President paid attention to was solving the dualism problem that occurred in several sports federations.

"There are several branches that are dualism. The problem needs to be resolved properly because they feel sorry for the athletes. Hopefully, the sports in the future can be even better," said the 2004 Athens Olympic gold medalist.

One of the sports that still has a dualism problem is table tennis. It is planned that a new federation will be formed as a middle ground for solving problems in the parent organization.

Dito hopes that Taufik's presence at the Ministry of Youth and Sports can have a significant impact. He wants them to be able to coordinate and work together so that all targets run smoothly.

"I want all the targets given by Prabowo to be achieved. Indonesia can move up the rankings in Los Angeles as well as targets at the SEA Games and Asian Games."

"Now we are seeing the Asian Games and the Olympics, while the SEA Games is heating up," he said.
