Momentum For Santri Day 2024: The Role Of Santri In Strengthening The Future
JAKARTA - National Santri Day which is celebrated every October 22 is an important moment to remember the role of students in fighting for and defending Indonesia's independence. Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion (Kakanwil Kemenag) DKI Jakarta, Dr. H. Adib, M.Ag., emphasized that students have played a major role in the history of the nation's resistance, especially through the Jihad Resolution which was published by Hadratus Syekh Kiai Haji Hasyim Asy'ari on October 22, 1945.
"The Jihad Resolution mandates that fighting the invaders is the obligation of every Muslim. This is a driving force for students and the community to continue to fight for independence," said Dr. Adib while reading out the remarks of the Minister of Religion, Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, MA, at the PKP Islamic School Modern Islamic Islamic Islamic Boarding School Islamic Boarding School, Ciracas, East Jakarta, Tuesday (22/10).
Dr. Adib also emphasized that the 1945 Jihad Resolution could not be separated from the November 10, 1945 event which was commemorated as Heroes' Day. "Without the Jihad Resolution, it is not necessarily the November 10 resistance," he added.
On the commemoration of Santri Day 2024, the Ministry of Religion raised the theme "Contwining the Juang, GROWing the Future". This theme, according to Dr. Adib, contains an important meaning that today's students must continue the struggle of their predecessors. "If in the past the struggle was carried out with weapons, now students are fighting against ignorance and setbacks with pen and science," he explained.
Dr. Adib also reminded that students not only have the task of maintaining noble heritage, but also contribute to building a better future. He gave an example that students can become anything, from the president to successful entrepreneurs. "We have the example of President Gus Dur and Vice President KH. Ma'ruf Amin, both have a santri background," he said.
