Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Budi Gunawan Prioritizes Handling The Smuggling Of Goods And Online Gambling
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan said his party would prioritize two main domestic problems to deal with, namely smuggling illegal goods and online gambling activities.
"The president has emphasized that it is a priority to handle smuggling cases. Many leaks that have occurred so far must be brought under control," said Budi Gunawan as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 22.
According to Budi, smuggling illegal goods is very detrimental because the state loses income from taxes that should be imposed on these goods.
With the swift flow of illegal goods, the state has lost income which should have been used to prosper the people.
"This must be handled so that all foreign exchanges can enter the state treasury to build Indonesia to be more advanced and prosperous," said Budi Gunawan.
In addition to the matter of smuggling goods, Budi will also handle eradicating online gambling as his predecessor former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto through the Online Judi Task Force.

According to Budi, online gambling has undermined the community's economy so that many residents end up falling poor. Conditions are exacerbated when the community is also entangled in online loans which will also be very detrimental.
"It has been troubling, very disturbing for individuals, households, the environment and so on. This must be handled properly and more sharply," said Budi.
Budi Gunawan did not explain in detail what concrete steps would be taken to reduce the practice of online gambling. He only ensured that his party would coordinate with related institutions to deal with online gambling practices.
"We will align it later with the ministry of institutions that are the spearhead in the field of law enforcement," said Budi.
