AHY Promises No Inequality In Economic Development Of Java And Non-Java

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) wants no very unequal economic development between Java and non-Java Island.

"We want our brothers and sisters wherever they are, there are also no areas or regions of Indonesia that are very unequal in economic development, welfare between Java and non-Java, including Eastern Indonesia," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 22.

President Prabowo Subianto is said to have revived the Ministry of Transmigration specifically, which is separated from village and regional affairs left behind with the aim that this ministry can assist in accelerating economic development in a number of areas, including Eastern Indonesia, by implementing transmigration programs.

"I heard the Minister (Minister of Transmigration Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara) also said this morning that transmigrants are patriots, because there must be a desire and awareness that moving to an area requires the physical presence, not only physically, but also skills, skills, and also certain experiences to increase the economic productivity of an area," he explained.

The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development oversees five technical ministries. Starting from the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), the Ministry of Public Works (PU), the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas, the Ministry of Transmigration, and the Ministry of Transportation.

The Coordinating Ministry for Regional Infrastructure and Development is a new ministry formed in President Prabowo Subianto's Red and White Cabinet for the period 2024-2029.
