Taufik Hidayat Reveals The Duties Of Prabowo Subianto

JAKARTA Taufik Hidayat was tasked with improving Indonesia's sports achievements after being inaugurated as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports (Wamenpora) for the 2024-2029 term of service.

The Indonesian badminton legend was inaugurated as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports along with 55 other deputy ministers at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday, October 21, 2024.

Taufik said that he was trusted to help the Menpora so that Indonesia's achievements in important events such as the Olympics could increase and make history.

"President Prabowo's directive is that Indonesia's sports achievements will increase even more. This year we got two gold (at the 2024 Paris Olympics). Hopefully later it can be more than that and I will always be reminded that I can work optimally," said Taufik, quoted by the Kemenpora website.

The Kemenpora environment is actually not the new place for Taufik Hidayat, who won the men's singles gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

He was previously appointed as Deputy Chair of the 2016-2017 Golden Indonesia Program Implementing Unit (Satlak Prima) and became a special staff at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2017-2018.

Taufik said that he would coordinate with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, regarding the tasks of youth and sports that will be carried out.

"I will meet soon because I am also waiting for directions from him. In the future, I will definitely follow the direction of the Minister of Youth and Sports, first coordination should not let me precede," he said.

Previously, Dito hoped that Taufik's presence at the Ministry of Youth and Sports could inspire Indonesia's young generation.

"With Taufik (Hidayat), I think it is very positive, where his character is very inspiring for the younger generation," said Menpora Dito.
