Nissan Rogue Will Be Given Hybrid Technology, Borrow From Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV?
JAKARTA - Nissan is known as one of the automotive manufacturers from Japan that has leading hybrid technology. However, currently, manufacturers do not sell vehicle segments in the United States (US).
The manufacturer felt the impact by not selling the hybrid in Uncle Sam's country. One of the most popular models, Rogue experienced a 24 percent decline in the third quarter. Meanwhile, shipments from January to September 2024 fell 10 percent.
In order to increase sales trends, it is reported that Nissan will enter the hybrid market in the US by presenting two hybrid options for Rogue.
Launching from InsideEVs, Monday, October 21, it was reported that Rogue will be offered with a choice of Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and will arrive at the market at least the end of next year.
The HEV version of Nissan Rogue will arrive in early 2027 along with a model design update or when the SUV enters its age of seven.
It is planned that the twin of X-Trail will be assembled at the Canton factory, Mississippi, USA after the manufacturer invested in the facility to prepare its electrification ranks. This is quite interesting considering the SUV is now assembled at the Smyrna factory, Tennessee.
Meanwhile, PHEV's version will borrow technology from its Mitsubishi alliance. Thus, Rogue PHEV will have the same powertrain as PHEV Outlander which can operate in parallel versions of gasoline and electricity.

As an illustration, the latest PHEV Outlander still carries a 2.4 liter DOHC engine. However, the system was re-developed with an expanded cooling channel, better recirculation of exhaust gases, and improved fuel efficiency and performance.
Thus, the engine can have up to 100 kW of power and 203 Nm of torque. When combined with the performance of electric motors, this SUV is capable of vomiting up to 225 kW of combined power or the equivalent of 302 dk.
This car has a larger battery capacity of up to 22.7 kWh to replace the previous 20 kWh. Thus, this is able to provide pure electric cruising range of up to 86 km according to the WLTP cycle.
The launch of the hybrid version of Rogue is also in line with Nissan's planning to launch 34 electrification lines by the beginning of 2031 globally.
