Nobuaki Takahashi, A Tour Guide From Japan Who Committed Suicide In Denpasar

DENPASAR - Allegedly depressed due to illness and no more work after tourism in Bali was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, a Japanese citizen, Nobuaki Takahashi (53) committed suicide. He hung himself at Diva Lestari Guest House, Panjer, South Denpasar.

"There has been an incident that a foreigner committed suicide by hanging himself", said Head of Public Relations of the Denpasar Police Iptu I Ketut Sukadi, Tuesday, April 6.

Takahashi committed suicide on the afternoon of Monday, April 5. His daily activity is working as a tour guide in Bali. This incident was known by a witness who saw him was lifeless in front of the bathroom.

Another witness, Lin Wayan Diana, said that the victim had been in the guest house since November 27, 2019. According to the witness to the police, the victim was no longer working after the COVID-19 pandemic hit Bali tourism.

"The victim was desperate to end his life by hanging himself, allegedly due to depression because the headache he had suffered so far has not been healed. At 19.00 p.m. local time, the victim's body was taken to Sanglah Hospital Denpasar by an ambulance from the Denpasar City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD)", said Sukadi.
