Google TV Broadly Launches Home Panels For More Streaming And TV Devices

JAKARTA Google TV continues to expand the reach of the Home Panel, a feature that allows users to control smart home devices, such as lights, fans, and Nest Thermostat, directly from their TV.

After launching on Google TV Streamers and Chromecast devices, this feature is now available on various Google TV brands such as TCL, Hisense, and others.

Home Panel also allows live view from Nest cameras and receives notifications from Nest Doorbell, although its functionality is not as strong as the standard Google Home app. However, this still provides practical access to controlling smart home devices from TV.

This feature has been extended to Chromecast devices with Google TV about a week ago and has since been present on various Google TV devices from other brands such as TCL, Hisense, as well as Xiaomi set-top boxes. The functions offered are the same on all devices, although there are no special buttons dedicated to Home Panels on Google TV Streamers.
