Chery Introduces Solid-State Battery For 2026, Here's The Excess Offered

JAKARTA - An automotive brand from China, Chery has released an all-solid state battery package for the EV model in 2026. The manufacturer released this technology at the Chery Global Innovation Conference.

Launching from CarNewsChina, Saturday, October 19, this brand announced a timeline to reach greater energy densities. For this year, Chery will reach an energy density of up to 400mas/kg, then increase to 600surks/kg by 2025 and will be applied to EVs starting 2026.

This will be followed by preliminary batch production in 2027. The company claims to provide EVs with an impressive range of up to 1,500 km.

In addition, three series of Kunpeng branded batteries were also announced, namely square lithium iron phosphate, square ternary, and large cylindrical ternary. One of the most important elements is that the three series can be charged up to 6C.

The 'C' is defined as the calculated charging rate by dividing the charging current (A) with the battery identification capacity (Ah).

The higher the charging rate, the sooner the battery can be charged or vacated. Chery claims its 6C battery is capable of increasing the range to 400 km in 5 minutes.

The lithium iron phosphate battery has an energy density of 120-160 validity/kg aimed at electric vehicles with a range of up to 200-600 km as well as plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and Extended Range (EREV) vehicles that can provide 100-200 km of electric range.

This can support 1C-6C charging and can be used at temperatures of the order between -30$C and 65$C.

Then, the battery square ternary is intended for electric vehicles with a range of 600-800 km and PHEV and EREV which can power 150-300 km of electric cruise. The energy density is 140-200 liters/kg. The temperature supported is -40 degC to 65 degC and can support 2C-6C charging.

Lastly, the large cylindrical series ternary with a large capacity that can provide a range of 700-1,200 km for EVs and PHEV and EREV as far as 150-300 km in full charging. This can provide 2C to 6C charging support.

The Kunpeng brand battery is capable of performing more than 3,000 charging cycles and has multi-part energy absorber design technology that supports rapid release of directed pressure for one second.

Furthermore, Chery demonstrates that one of his truncated cells can still be used.
