Hasto Kristiyanto Alludes To Abuse Of Power For The 2024 Presidential Election In Doctoral Dissertation

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto alluded to the abuse of power by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the 2024 presidential election. However, his party persists because it prioritizes emotional ties between cadres and strengthens leadership materials.

This was conveyed by Hasto in an open session of doctoral promotions held at the University of Indonesia (UI), Depok today, Friday, October 18.

"The objection to party institutions occurred in the 2024 presidential election in the form of abuse of power and power behavior with its character authoritarian populism. This character was born from a combination of fedalism, populism and machiavellian which was driven by power ambition," said Hasto in the activity.

Instead of being a source of example, Hasto called Jokowi the core of power ambition. He said this attitude had many implications such as democratic damage, weak rule of law, and the use of state resources and state tools.

On that occasion, Hasto also talked about how his party survives in the midst of the political dynamics that occur. He used the leadership point of view of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, namely adapting the Pancasila ideology to unite the party in various problems of the political dynamics of the country.

"The ideological fabrication system at this time can be seen from the regeneration process through awareness of the culture ideology and party organization," he said.

Hasto concluded that Megawati's leadership had a strong influence on party resilience. He also said that his party chairman leadership was flexible with adaptation power to survive or recover from various shocks of political dynamics.

PDIP's ability to survive in dealing with the triangle of the authoritarian populism has made PDIP a representative model for party institutional studies and resilience. Megawati Soekarnoputri has a legacy as a pro-democracy figure, guardian of democracy and the constitution, as well as an intellectual leadership tradition that grows from her very complex life experience," said Hasto.

During the open session, the 51st President of the Republic of Indonesia who is also the General Chair of the PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri also attended the event. He wore a red kebaya accompanied by his son who is also the Chair of the PDIP DPP for MSMEs, Creative and Digital Economy, Prananda Prabowo.

Then, there were also a number of party officials bearing white-nosed bulls such as former Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Deputy Chairperson of the MPR Ahmad Basarah, former presidential and vice presidential candidates number 3 Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD.
