Candra Darusman Ensures Determination Of AMI Awards Winners Based On Work Quality

JAKARTA - Candra Darusman as the General Chair of the Anugerah Musik Indonesia Foundation ensures that the AMI Awards still make the quality of the work the basis for determining who will return with the trophy.

This has been AMI's way so far. That way, Candra also wants to ensure that the view that says AMI's assessment can be controlled by outsiders is wrong.

"Because this is very important, this winner is determined by more than 2,000 AMI members. So there are no rules, no fuss," said Candra Darusman when met in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 15.

"Yes, this is to break the myth that says 'Ah, AMI can be regulated', so I can't. The task of the AMI chairman is to make sure of that," he continued.

In the 27th event of this year, AMI collaborated with YouTube to select the music video with the highest number of viewers.

But for all other categories, Candra ensures a pure assessment based on the quality of the work, regardless of the number of streams on digital music platforms (DSP) and viewers on YouTube.

"For the category in AMI, it is from the decision of the member, and pure (pure) based on quality. If the one (cooperation with) YouTube is based on quantity. So yes, we must be able to distinguish it," he said.

Candra felt that the way AMI had applied over the years proved to be right, if you saw how the winner also became a popular musician among the public when the assessment was carried out.

"We always compare the results of AMI winners with what is popular in DSP, and it turns out that the results are not too far away. So, what is popular in DSP, also appears to be the winner in AMI," said Candra.

"Alhamdulillah. This means that the voters represent the community, yes, even though they are not 100 percent the same, it cannot be the same," he concluded.
