YOGYAKARTA In this article, the assets of the inactive Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh will be discussed which were confiscated by the state. The assets consist of hundreds of millions of precious metals and luxury homes with an estimated price of billions of rupiah.
Previously, the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) of the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) sentenced Gazalba Saleh to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 4 months imprisonment.
Gazalba was found guilty after receiving gratuities in handling cases at the Supreme Court (MA) and committing money laundering (TPPU).
Gazalba was proven to have violated Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering junto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
In addition, the judge also determined that the precious metal to the house belonging to the inactive Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh was confiscated by the state because it was obtained from a criminal act of corruption.
"Considering that the evidence from the proceeds of a criminal act and the evidence used to commit a crime is determined to be confiscated for the state," said Chief Judge Fahzal Hendri when reading the verdict at the Corruption Court in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, quoted by VOI.
