US Helene Storm Disaster Recovery Team Terrorized By Armed Militia, 1 Perpetrator Arrested
JAKARTA - The recovery stage of the impact of the Hurricane Helene disaster in North Carolina is accompanied by threats by armed US (US) militias.
The Washington Post reported that the terror came at a time when 65,000 residents of Rutherford County in North Carolina were struggling to clean up the mud and debris from Hurricane Helene.
As a result, the disaster management team from the center or the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) who received the threat was forced to move their post to a location that was safer from its original point.
The US Forestry Service has informed FEMA that National Guard troops are hunting for armed militias that pose a threat.
CBS News said one perpetrator linked to the threat had been arrested.
Vigilance was then upgraded by changing the scheme of the FEMA disaster relief team, which previously went to the affected house, now placed in a predetermined location.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office said it had previously received a call on Saturday afternoon October 12 containing threats coming from a man in an assault rifle.
The armed militia man admitted that he would injure FEMA officers on duty in areas affected by the Helene Storm in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, North Carolina.
