Estonia Officially Joins The Artemis Agreement

JAKARTA The Artemis mission has received support from a new country. On October 13, NASA revealed that Estonia had signed the Artemis Agreement while attending an international meeting at Milan.

This signing ceremony takes place before Italy officially hosts the 2024 International Astronautical Congress (IAC) which was held on October 14. At that time, several countries had gathered to discuss Artemis' progress.

NASA administrator Bill Nelson, who was a witness when Estonia signed the contract, said the joining of the 45th country would strengthen plans to explore space. Nelson also believes that Estonia will attract more countries to join the Artemis mission.

"This decision strengthens our nation's family, united by common goals, and builds on our commitment to exploring space for the benefit of mankind based on the good principles of the agreement," Nelson said.

Meanwhile, Estonia's Minister of Economy and Industry, Erkki Keldo, who signed the Artemis Agreement, revealed that his country is very interested in collaborating on global space missions. Estonia is also determined in the success of space exploration.

"I believe that joining the Artemis Agreement will open up attractive opportunities for Estonian companies as well, to share their valuable knowledge and competence," said Keldo.

Despite attracting 45 countries to support its exploration missions, NASA still wants to welcome other countries. While working with dozens of countries around the world, NASA wants to apply the principles of safe and sustainable space exploration.
