Bad Weather, The Head Of BNPB Has Not Been Able To Visit The Location Of East Flores Flash Floods

JAKARTA - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Doni Monardo, is having trouble traveling to the location of the flash flood disaster on Adonara Island, East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara.

In fact, Doni and his entourage of ministries and agencies plan to continue their journey from Fraction Seda Maumere Airport to Larantuka, then continue to Adonara Island this morning.

Doni suddenly departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport and then arrived in Maumere. When I wanted to continue the journey, it turned out that bad weather prevented me.

"We from BNPB last night had planned to fly as quickly as possible, but the flight said we could not because the weather was very dangerous, so we could only take off from the morning at 5 in the morning," Doni said in a video recording received by VOI, Monday, April 5.

Supposedly, at this time the group would fly again to the wound. However, the weather in Larantuka also makes flights impossible. So, Doni decided to use the land route.

"Then, the crossing to Adonara will see the situation, it can still be today or not. If not, then we will wait until the weather is good," he explained.

In order to accelerate and handle the flash flood disaster in East Flores, Doni also brought some assistance to be delivered. Doni brought the aid directly from Jakarta with the plane he was in.

Details of the types of assistance sent in the form of; 1,002 packages of ready-to-eat food, 1,002 packages of additional nutritional food, 1,002 packages of side dishes, 3,000 blankets, 2,000 sheets of cover, 10,000 units of rapid antigen test kits, 1,000 cloth masks, and 1,000 medical masks.

"Along with the plane, there are also logistical items needed, such as blankets, ready-to-eat food, and medicines," said Doni.

Also along with the entourage, East Nusa Tenggara Deputy Governor, Josef Nae Soi, the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) Members, Yorrys Raweyai and Angelius Wake Koko, Representatives of related Ministries/Institutions and BNPB officials and staff.

Flash floods hit two villages in East Flores on Sunday, April 4 at 01.00 central Indonesia time. Flash floods that were triggered by high rain intensity, hit Nelelamadike Village in Ile Boleng District, Waiwerang Village, and Waiburak Village in East Adonara District, Oyang Barang, and Pandai Village in Wotan Ulumado District, and Waiwadan and Duwanur Villages in West Adonara District.
