Yakin Polda DIY Bagi Titik Rawan Klitih, JPW Minta Razia Tetap Digencarkan

DIY - Jogja Police Watch (JPW) asked the Yogyakarta Special Region Police (DIY) to intensify raids again to prevent street crimes or often called klitih in DIY.

Head of the Public Relations Division of JPW Baharuddin Kamba revealed, until mid-October 2024, street crime cases in the Yogyakarta region showed an increasing trend or at least every month.

"This is certainly an alarm for the Yogyakarta Regional Police to improve security and comfort on the streets by routinely conducting raids, especially at night until early morning or odd hours," said Kamba in his statement in Yogyakarta, Sunday, October 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, raids are mainly on quiet roads with minimal street lights or can be done in places where teenagers gather at night until early morning.

JPW, said Kamba, believes that the police already have data and information regarding points that have the potential to become locations for klitih actions, including groups or gangs that often carry out klitih actions.

"The intelligence and detective function must be maximized. Do not miss it for so many times and victims fall," he said.

In addition to supporting the Yogyakarta Regional Police to take firm action against the klitih perpetrators, he also asked the public not to take justice action against the klitih perpetrators.

"Give it to the police and the public to increase the security system so that it can minimize klitih actions," said Baharuddin Kamba.

Previously, the Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Suwondo Nainggolan, said that his party continues to strengthen cooperation with the community to monitor locations that have the opportunity to become areas of matches for student gangs.

He mentioned that based on the police mapping, there are at least 36 student gangs in Yogyakarta that have the potential to commit street crimes.

"Of the 36 student gangs, 12 gangs have been visited and searched all their headquarters, the rest are no longer operating," he said.

In addition, the socialization of the implementation of the "Mother Calling" program also continues to be intensified to suppress juvenile delinquency in this area.

The "Mother Calling" program emphasizes parents are able to build communication with their teenage children.

When until 22.00 WIB the children are not at home, parents must immediately contact or call them to return home.

If 10 times the phone is not picked up by the child, parents must contact their respective heads of hamlets to be followed up by the police.

"Because we have data that they cannot pick up the phone with the gang. If it's from the mother, parents, they can't be picked up," said Suwondo.
