Concerned By Netanyahu Serang UNFIL, US Still Affirms Guarantee Israel's Security

JAKARTA - Secretary of Defense of the United States (US) Lloyd J. Austin III admitted that he was very concerned about the Israeli army's attack on the position of UN peacekeeping force or UNFIL in Lebanon.

This was conveyed by the Pentagon Press Secretary Major General Pat Border. He said the US Defense Minister expressed concern over the incident in Lebanon when speaking with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on October 12.

"Minister Austin also raised the issue of a severe humanitarian situation in Gaza, and stressed that measures to address it must be taken," said Ryder in a written statement, quoted from Sputnik-OANA via Antara, Sunday, October 13, in antara.

According to Pat Ryde, the US Defense Minister is also concerned that Israel is attacking UNIFIL amid the worsening situation in Gaza, Palestine.

In this regard, the US Defense Minister stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and security of UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces while calling for Israel to immediately switch to diplomatic channels.

On that occasion, the US Defense Minister also reaffirmed the US's "unwavering, lasting, and strong" commitment to Israel's security.
