Armed People Attack Russian Official Cars In Ingushetia, 3 People Died

JAKARTA - Armed men opened fire on a car carrying a local security official in Russia's Ingushetia region in North Kaukasus, killing three people, including a police officer.

The TASS news agency quoted the local Investigative Committee as saying the car carrying the deputy head of the Ingushetia Extremism Management Center was attacked on Friday, October 11 evening.

Reported by Reuters on Saturday, October 12, criminal investigations have been opened over the incident and the people behind the attack are being sought.

The TASS report said gunmen left the scene and headed for the neighboring area of North Ossetia.

Ingushetia borders Chechens at the heart of the often turbulent North Kaucasus region.
