Jokowi Doesn't Want To Join Minister Prabowo's Mix: I Don't Want Prerogative Rights To Intervene

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo believes that President-elect Prabowo Subianto is able to bring Indonesia to achieve good growth.

"I believe that Mr. General Purnawirawan Prabowo Subianto is able to bring us all to the (economic growth) figures that I conveyed earlier," Jokowi said in his remarks at the Kompas 100 CEO Forum event at the Garuda Palace, the capital city of Nusantara, East Kalimantan, reported by ANTARA, Friday, October 11.

The figures of economic growth referred to by Jokowi are the 8 percent economic growth target projected by Prabowo Subianto, with GDP per capita projected to be above 8,000 US dollars in the next five years and at approximately 11,000-12,000 US dollars in the following 10 years.

"Maybe we can jump over the estimates of international institutions, it can be above 23,000 (US dollars) that means in 2045, but once again going there is also not easy," said Jokowi.

Currently, Indonesia's GDP per capita has reached 5,060 US dollars. Jokowi said it took courage to decide along with detailed and complete calculations with clear numbers.

He believes Prabowo Subianto's cabinet can make it happen.

"We'll just have to wait for Monday, the next Monday, a week later, the ministers (Prabowo) will be sworn in. Don't ask me what is related to it (Minister Prabowo) because people will immediately negativize earlier, I will participate, intervene," said Jokowi.

Jokowi said he did not want to interfere in Prabowo's prerogative.

Jokowi said that when he had dinner with Prabowo Subianto some time ago, he also did not want to talk about the minister if he was not asked.

"Even though yesterday we had dinner for two and a half hours, bro, if you ask him, I will not (comment about the minister). Because I am the same, I also don't want anyone's prerogative to intervene. That's the right given to the people, then the election is transferred to me," said the President.
