FIFA And Konami Establish Cooperation, FIFAe World Cup Is More Lively

JAKARTA - After ending its long-term partnership with Electronic Arts (EA), FIFA is now announcing its new partnership with Konami Digital Entertainment (KONAMI), for the continuation of esports development around the world.

The purpose of the collaboration between KONI and FIFA is to further increase the joy of the global football community through esports.

For the start of this collaboration, two FIFA World Cup esports events or the FIFAe World Cup will be held throughout this year, including one event that started this year, where players competed with each other through Konami's free football simulations, eFootball, on PCs and consoles.

We are excited to announce our collaboration with KONI. The new FIFAe World Cup is very much in line with our mission to promote football around the world and provide platforms for players to show their skills," said FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai.

The countries and regions participating in the first FIFAe World Cup, organized by eFootball are Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, England, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand and Turkey.

"Until now, our company continues to answer the challenges of football development and esports. We are very happy to be able to contribute to the promotion of football to a new level through this joint FIFAe initiative," said KONI Senior Executive Executive Officer, Koji Kobayashi.
