Israel's Security Cabinet Deadlock On Counterattacks Against Iran

JAKARTA - Israel's security cabinet is deadlocked by aka deadlock about the decision on how to respond to Iranian missile attacks.

US President Joe Biden said Israel's retaliation for the Iranian missile attack on October 1 should be proportional.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Israel's retaliation against Iran would be strong, precise, and most importantly "surprising".

On the Iranian side, Ebrahim Rezaei, an Iranian lawmaker and spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, stressed Iran would retaliate with violence against any Israeli attack. His country may choose to target locations outside the Israeli military position.

"We have so many missiles," the spokesman warned CNN, Wednesday, October 8.

"In our latest attack on Israel, we are only targeting military sites," Rezaei said. "There are other targets we can achieve, and we have the ability to achieve them. Our response will be firm and tough," he added.

Rezaei has imposed attacks on Iran's interests in other countries, such as the April attack on Iran's diplomatic building in Damascus, will be seen as an attack on Iran's territory.

Rezaei said the United States should stop its military support for Israel and push it towards a ceasefire in Gaza.

"Stop weaponry and support for the Zionist regime (Israel)," he said.
