Cloudflare Study: 87 Percent Respondents Worried AI Exacerbated Data Violations

Cloudflare, a leading cloud connectivity company, released a new study focused on cybersecurity in Asia Pacific, entitled 'Navigating the New Security Landscape: Asia Pacific Cybersecurity Readiness Survey'.

The survey revealed that 41 percent of organizations in Asia Pacific experienced data breaches in the past 12 months, with 47 percent of them reporting more than 10 incidents.

Furthermore, Cloudflare said that the sectors most affected by this violation were Construction and Real Estate (56 percent), Travel and Tourism (51 percent), and Financial Services (51 percent).

In this cyber attack, the most common data targeted by threat actors is customer data (67 percent), user access credentials (58 percent), and financial information (55 percent).

The survey also highlights deep concerns about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in increasing the complexity and severity of data breaches.

Where as many as 87 percent of respondents said they were worried that AI could worsen this situation. Where 50 percent of respondents estimate that AI will be used to break into passwords or encryption codes.

Additionally, 47 percent believe that AI will add phishing and social engineering attacks, while 44 percent predict that AI will strengthen DDoS attacks.

Finally, another 40 percent saw that AI played a role in creating deepfakes and facilitating privacy violations in the digital space.
