Motorcyclists In Batu City Shot By Unknown Persons

MALANG - A motorcyclist in Batu City, East Java, became a victim of a shooting by an unknown man while crossing Jalan Wukir, Temas Village, Batu District.

Batu Police Chief AKP Anton Hendry Subagijo said the shooting incident occurred right in front of the Temas Village office, at around 13.30 WIB.

"The victim is approximately 35 years old, a resident of Temas here. The shooting incident here is approximately 13.30 WIB," Anton said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 10.

Anton explained that based on witness testimony, the victim was riding with his wife and children riding a motorbike from the east side of the crime scene or from the direction of Torongrejo was overtaken by the perpetrator who was also driving a two-wheeled vehicle.

After preceding the victim, the perpetrator then turned towards the front of the kelurahan office and took out a gun.

"Then shot at the victim who was riding with his wife and children. The bullet fired hit her husband's upper left chest," he said.

After being hit by a shot, the victim pulled over his vehicle. Meanwhile, the perpetrator fled to the north or headed to Pandan Rejo.

"It is not certain what type of gun, because the bullet projectile is still in the victim's body. So further analysis is needed to determine the type of weapon," he said.

The victim has now been taken to the ICU room of Hasta Brata Hospital, Batu City for intensive treatment.

"An analysis from the doctor will be carried out by surgery tomorrow afternoon. His family is in shock," he said.

The shooting investigation process was carried out by the Batu City Resort Police (Polres).

"Further investigations are still being carried out from the Resort Police," he said.

In the same place, the Head of Temas Village, Adi Santoso, stated that he had heard a loud explosion right from the front of his office. He initially thought that the sound came from an explosion of firecrackers.

"Then a lot of people came out, it turned out that someone was shot. From the information, the victim had just made a pilgrimage to the grave," he said.

After the shooting, the sub-district apparatus immediately searched for CCTV footage of the incident.

"The perpetrator was alone, the characteristics of the perpetrator's body were curling and shooting with his left hand, he shot while riding a motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet," he said.
