"Three suspects have committed the theft of five motorbikes since May 2024 in six different locations, we have detained the three perpetrators for further legal proceedings," said Head of the Kapuas Hulu Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Inspector of Police One (Iptu) Rinto Sihombing, in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, Thursday, October 10, confiscated by Antara.
Rinto said that the three suspects in the theft case had the initials UJ (19), HN (21), and IW (19) and were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding theft by weight, with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
The case was revealed thanks to reports from the public who were suspicious of UJ's behavior, who was one of the perpetrators of the theft case.
It is known that UJ perpetrators do not have a permanent job, but are often seen changing motorbikes.
"We followed up the information and secured UJ after running away. From the results of the examination, it was revealed the involvement of two other perpetrators, namely HN and IW," said Rinto.
Rinto explained that the perpetrators carried out their actions at night when the situation was quiet, then changed the color and police number of the stolen motorbike so that it would not be easily detected.
