The Government Promises Life Allowances For Athletes With Achievements At The Olympics In Today's Memory, October 10, 2015

JAKARTA Memories of today, nine years ago, October 10, 2015, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Imam Nahrawi promised life benefits to athletes who excel in the Olympics. The award will be made starting in 2016.

Previously, the achievements of Indonesian athletes were considered to have declined in organizing the 2012 London Olympics. Indonesia did not get gold. In fact, the superior branches of badminton did not produce any medals. The Indonesian government is asked to immediately improve.

Badminton is often a seeds in bringing home medals at the Olympics. The excitement has emerged since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Indonesia also continues to record its existence in winning medals in the biggest sporting event in the world.

The same hope arose at the 2012 London Olympics. Indonesia is confident that the selected badminton athlete will be able to bring home a medal. Hope is all hope. The badminton branch is considered a total failure.

All Indonesian representatives -- men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed losses. This condition makes the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) get a sharp spotlight. Moreover, those who managed to bring home medals were from other sports that did not receive much government assistance: weightlifting (two silver, one bronze).

The decline in the achievements of national athletes has made the whole of Indonesia concerned. The Indonesian government has been criticized. They are considered the most responsible party for the decline in achievement.

The government is asked to conduct a thorough evaluation of athlete development. The root of the problem that hinders is immediately sought. The government is also required to pay attention to equal distribution. Don't just rely on badminton, but build other branches.

The evaluation needs to be carried out as soon as possible. This is because sports are an important pillar in introducing the country to the world. It is also so that Indonesia in organizing the Olympics is no longer underestimated.

"The evaluation must be carried out. Why are our achievements falling like this. We, Commission X of the DPR are obliged and authorized to conduct evaluations with the government. It needs to be discussed together with a map of national sports issues. This picture is important to make policies that effectively improve national sports achievements," criticized Member of Commission X DPR RI Rohmani as quoted by the COMPASS.com page, August 28, 2012.

The government regime has also changed, from Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Nothing has changed a lot. The government is considered not really serious about working on athlete maturation at least about early childhood coaching.

However, that does not mean the government will not move. Menpora, Imam Nahrawi also took part on October 10, 2015. He promised athletes who excel in organizing the Olympics will receive life benefits from the government.

The visit was not only given to those who had made the name of the nation and state proud. Even those who will compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics. This strategy is considered to be able to increase the spirit of champion among national athletes. The allowance will start in 2016.

"This allowance will be given in 2016 and will not break until the athlete ends his life. If the APBN allows, from the beginning of my leadership I will create a model for athletes' insurance, actually we need a body like BUMN that takes care of the welfare of the athletes," said Imam as quoted by the ANTARA website, October 10, 2015.
