Melki Lakalena-Johni Asadoma Unggul In The NTT Pilkada Survey

JAKARTA - The West East Research Center (TBRC) survey institute released the results of a survey related to the electability of three pairs of candidates for governor and deputy governor in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Pilkada ahead of the 2024 Pilkada.

The three pairs of candidates are Melki Lakalena and Johni Asadoma, Simon Petrus Kamlation and Adrianus Garu, and Yohanis Fransiskus Lema and Jane Natalia Suryanto.

"In the Top of Mind or Spontaneous Awareness aspect, the electability rate of the Melki Lakalena and Johni Asadoma pairs reached 34.2 percent. Meanwhile, Yohanis Francis Lema and Jane Natalia Suryanto reached 27.4 percent, and Simon Petrus Kamlation and Adrianus Garu reached 19.6 percent. Meanwhile, Respondents who did not vote were recorded at 18.8 percent," said the East Executive Director of Research Center, Johanes Romeo in his statement, Tuesday, October 8.

In the aspect of Aided Awareness, Johanes continued, where respondents were given image assistance and the names of the three pairs of candidates on the ballot card, the results showed that the Melki Lakalena and Johni Asadoma pairs reached a 40.8 percent electability rate.

"The Yohanis couple Fransiskus Lema and Jane Natalia Suryanto got 33.4 percent, while the pair Simon Petrus Kamlasi and Adrianus Garu got 20.1 percent. Respondents who did not choose amounted to 5.7 percent," he said.

Johanes said, regarding the popularity or introduction of the three pairs of candidates, the results showed that the three were quite well known to the public. However, the highest level of public recognition was recorded in the pair Melki Lakalena and Johni Asadoma, with a figure of 83.2 percent.

"This was driven by the popularity of the former NTT Police Chief, Johni Asadoma, who accompanied Melki Lakalena as a candidate for deputy governor," he said.

Then, the Yohanis Fransiskus Lema and Jane Natalia Suryanto ranks second with a popularity rate of 70.6 percent. While the pair Simon Petrus Kamlasi and Adrianus Garu are in third place with a popularity rate of 56.7 percent.

From the survey results, it was also revealed that the pair Melki Lakalena and Johni Asadoma were the most liked by the people of NTT. Where as many as 88.7 percent of respondents expressed their likes and beliefs that this couple was able to lead NTT better.

Meanwhile, the level of public preference for the couple Simon Petrus Kamlasi and Adrianus Garu reached 57.8 percent, and the couple Yohanis Fransiskus Lema and Jane Natalia Suryanto got a 54.6 percent preference rate.

In addition, this survey also measures the availability of respondents in the choice of regional heads during the survey compared to the choice in the ballot booth. The results showed that 67.2 percent of respondents would not change their choice, while 27.6 percent said they would change the choice after knowing the vision and mission of candidate pairs during the campaign. Then, as many as 5.2 percent of respondents chose not to express their choice.

In the survey, a number of problems were also found that were complaints from the people of NTT, of which 75.7 percent of respondents revealed that they were facing serious issues such as poverty, limited infrastructure and transportation infrastructure, and the risk of hunger.

"In addition, low levels of health, as well as less quality human resources, and slow economic growth. This is certainly a big challenge for the elected regional head of NTT in the future," he concluded.

This survey was conducted in the period September 24 - October 6, 2024, involving 1,400 people in 21 districts and one city in NTT.

The survey also had a margin of error of around 2.62 percent at a 95 percent confidence level, assuming a simple random sampling.
