Elderly Almost Died While Trying To Commit Suicide At The HI Roundabout

JAKARTA - An elderly man with the initials A (66) almost died during an attempted suicide by jumping into the pool of Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout, Central Jakarta.

The elderly are suspected of having depression, so they tried to end their lives on the motorized vehicle free day (HBKB) last Sunday, October 6.

Luckily, the life of the elderly man was rescued by members of the Satpol PP who were tasked with securing the HBKB in the HI Roundabout area.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Data and Information Section, Adi Krisno, arranged that the incident occurred at 07.48 WIB.

At that time, Satpol PP officers saw A throw himself into the pool of the HI Roundabout. Officers with residents who were exercising tried to persuade A to climb to the surface of the pool lip.

However, the elderly man was still determined to try to drown himself in the bottom of the pool.

"Due to A's weak and pale condition, a number of Satpol PP officers immediately evacuated A from the pool," Adi said when confirmed, Monday, October 7.

After being successfully evacuated by Satpol PP officers, then A was taken to the Tanah Abang Regional General Hospital (RSUD) using an ambulance from the DKI Jakarta Health Office for medical treatment.

"It is suspected that A was desperate to throw himself out because he was depressed due to family problems," he said.

Adi ensured that currently the elderly man had improved after undergoing treatment at the Tanah Abang Hospital.
