Central Java Police Affirm, No Brong Exhaust During Open Campaign

JAKARTA - The Central Java Police reminded the public that there was no Brong exhaust during the open campaign in the 2024 Pilkada.

"At the open campaign stage, the regional elections, from the ranks of the National Police, the government, and stakeholders carry out mitigation. Therefore, in this declaration all elements of society, political parties, communities, KPU, Bawaslu, the government, including students, we invite together to raise awareness and socialize a peaceful campaign," said Kombes Sonny Irawan, Sunday, October 6.

Thus, it is hoped that unwanted events that occur in the presidential election will not happen again in this election.

"Hopefully the public can remind each other so that during an open campaign they do not use Brong exhausts or exhausts that do not meet standard specifications," he said.

He said the use of exhaust is because from the legal aspect it violates the rules of both the Traffic Law and the Regulation of the Ministry of Environment.

"Meanwhile, from a sociological aspect, there will be triggers, conflicts between groups. From an environmental perspective, pollution is caused. Therefore, let's do campaigns together peacefully, without using Brong exhaust," he said.

He also asked political parties and the success team of each candidate pair to mitigate their respective volunteers.

"At the initial gathering point, we were reminded that those who use Brong exhaust do not comply with the specifications, those who do not wear helmets should be reminded not to come, to move aside. The hope is that elections will be peaceful, safe, comfortable," he said.

Meanwhile, until now the Central Java Police have confiscated approximately 300,000 Brong exhausts.

"250 tickets were taken, the rest were sympathetic warnings. 180 had been destroyed, later if they were carried out in the field we would take decisive, measured action. Measurable firmness means that in plain view it will be found, but when it is carried out during a crowded convoy period, the police must look at the psychology of the time, not to provoke emotions or conflicts," he said.

Surakarta Police Chief Kombes Pol. Iwan Saktiadi said controlling and destroying the Brong exhaust was not only related to campaigns but also in normal conditions.

"This is our preventive effort to maintain traffic order and the community that the efforts of the Surakarta Police are not just this momentum. We only take advantage of this momentum ahead of the open campaign," he said.

He said that for the past year the Surakarta Police had confiscated 2,000 Brong exhausts.

"We are actively trying to make roads in Solo orderly from using Brong exhausts," he said.
