Political Observer: The First Debate Becomes A Reference For Voters In The 2024 Jakarta Pilkada
Political observer Hendri Satrio assessed that the inaugural debate for the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada would be the main reference for voters before voting at the vote booth next November.
This is because the inaugural debate is usually used to measure the rationality of the programs of each candidate in building Jakarta after not holding the status of the capital city. Moreover, the theme of the inaugural debate for the Jakarta Regional Head Election is 'Strengthening Human Resources and Transformation of Jakarta into a Global City'.
"Debat tonight will be a place for the community to assess whether the rational programs offered by the candidate pairs for the development of Jakarta are in the sense of where Jakarta will be after the law is no longer stipulated as the capital city," said Hensat, Sunday, October 6, 2024.
He revealed that so far the people of Jakarta tend to be rational and pay attention to the details of the programs offered by the candidate pairs before deciding to choose their leaders. "These Jakarta residents are very much like it and rational, so they can laugh with the program of the candidate governor who is considered unrealistic," he added.
The founder of the KedaiKOPI survey institute stated that until now the three candidates in the Jakarta Pilkada have not shown new visible programs and are targeting the community on a micro level.
So far, the candidate pairs' third program has shown similarities with their predecessor governors although it is under the pretext of continuing the program.
Hensat reminded that the three candidates must offer new programs that do not just continue the previous program. The reason is, apart from the citizens of Jakarta being very rational, continuing the ongoing programs should also be the obligation of the governor candidates if elected in the future.
When talking about urban development, it is still not included in the micro realm of each Jakarta resident. It is better if the candidate pairs in the debate will also explain the programs in detail and the target is clear because this little time of debate will also affect their electability," he said.
