185 Dutch Citizens Evacuated From Lebanon

JAKARTA - Israel announced the start of a limited military land operation in southern Lebanon in October. As a result, the Netherlands evacuated 185 people consisting of Dutch nationals and other nationals on its first evacuation flight from Lebanon.

Our first repatriation flight from Lebanon has just landed in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Inside there are 185 people, including several people from Belgium, Ireland and Finland," Dutch Foreign Minister Veldkamp said via social media X, quoted on Saturday, October 5.

Quoted from ANTARA, Veldkamp said that the second repatriation flight was scheduled for Saturday, October 5. Since last week, the Israeli Air Force has carried out a massive attack targeting the Lebanese Shiite movement, Hezbollah, in various regions in neighboring countries. Several targeted airstrikes in Beirut have also been carried out and killed a number of Hezbollah commanders.

Hezbollah responded to the attack with missile launches, particularly targeting northern Israel, and its attack range has increased significantly in recent days.

On October 1, Iran launched several hundred ballistic missiles toward Israel in response to the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Palestinian political leader Hamas movement Ismail Haniyeh, and senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Abbas Nilforoushan.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his government did not intend to go to war with Israel but would face any threat in a firm manner.
