HBO Releases Satoshi Nakamoto's Documentary Film Creator Bitcoin On October 9
JAKARTA - The mysterious figure who created Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto will be revealed in a new documentary released by HBO. The film, entitled Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, is scheduled to air on Wednesday, October 9.
Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, disappeared from the public in December 2010. Until now, Nakamoto is estimated to control around 1.1 million Bitcoins, whose value reaches 67 billion US dollars (IDR 1,005 trillion).
The documentary Satoshi Nakamoto was directed by Cullen Hoback. Previously he worked on the documentary series Q: Into the Storm which reveals the people behind QAnon's conspiracy theory. His latest documentary trailer was released last Thursday, hinting that the film will reveal the figure behind Nakamoto's pseudonym, which is believed to cause new debate.
"We are building strong arguments in this film, and I am sure the figure we reveal is very unexpected. This will definitely trigger controversy," Hoback said in an interview with Fast Company. He added that although a lot of evidence cannot be included in the film, the narrative presented still supports the conclusion.
Alex mulai, Head of Galaxy Digital Research, also responded on platform X (formerly Twitter), revealing that this documentary accuses Len Sassaman, a cryptograph who died, as Nakamoto. Nakamoto referred to an article in Medium published in 2021, which raises the theory that Sassaman may be the figure behind the creator of Bitcoin.
Although there has been no official confirmation regarding this, the theory has again sparked debate among the global crypto community. The disclosure of Nakamoto's identity has the potential to have a major impact, especially regarding the control of ownership of 1.1 million Bitcoins which is still a question mark until now.
