Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Team Walz Promises Equal Role For US Muslims In Kamala Harris Government
JAKARTA - Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz said on Thursday the United States Muslims would gain an equal role in Kamala Harris's administration if they win the US Presidential Election next month, as Democrats struggle to regain erode Muslim support due to Uncle Sam's support for Israel.
Harris and Walz tried to woo angry Muslim voters for the support of President Joe Biden's Administration for Israel during the one-year war in Gaza against Hamas.
Harris has promised to continue supporting Israel while emphasizing his push for a ceasefire, Walz echoed on Thursday, while promising a role for Muslims.
"Vice President Harris and I are committed that this White House will continue to condemn all forms of anti-Islamic and anti-Arab sentiment led by Donald Trump, but more importantly, the commitment of Muslims to engage in this government and serve side by side," Walz said at an online meeting organized by Emgage Action, an American Muslim advocacy group that recently supported Harris.
The general election on November 5 between Harris and Trump of Republicans is expected to take place strictly, especially in battlefield countries such as Michigan, which is home to the large population of American Muslims.
Although Emgage has backed Harris, other Muslim groups have urged their supporters not to support Harris in elections, especially after Democrats rejected requests for Palestinian spokesmans at the party convention in August.
Harris did not offer a difference in substantive policy on Israel from Biden, who stepped down as a presidential candidate in July.

Trump himself said he would reimpose the " travel ban" he imposed while serving as president limiting the entry of people from a list of countries most of Muslim populations to the United States. President Biden lifted the ban shortly after taking office in 2021.
"The scale of death and destruction in Gaza is shocking and devastating," Walz said.
Harris is trying to ensure "the suffering in Gaza ends now, and the Palestinian people are aware of the right to dignity, freedom and self-determination," he added.
