Two Witnesses Examined For Fire At Citraland Mall

After the fire at Citraland Mall, North Tanjung Duren, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, the police examined two witnesses.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police, AKP Aprino Tamara, Friday afternoon, October 4, said that witness examination was carried out to reveal the cause of the fire inside the mall.

Because, based on the testimony of witnesses, it was found that there were sparks on the 5th floor of the mall. The witnesses fled after seeing the spark before calling the fire department.

"Yes, they saw sparks from the fifth floor. When they (saw) the sparks, they immediately ran away. After that, they called the firefighters," continued Aprino.

When the firefighters arrived at the location, continued Aprino, the fire had grown. The blackout started at 01.00 WIB until the cooling process was completed at 03.30 WIB.

"The fire suppression arrived, the fire had grown. Starting from the blackout from 01.00 WIB to 02.30 WIB. The cooling had just finished at 03.30 WIB, it was completely finished," he explained.

Regarding the alleged cause of the fire, Aprino said that there was an electric short circuit or short circuit, according to the fire department's statement.

"If our suspicion is temporary in accordance with the information from the fire department, it is an electrical short circuit. That is indeed a temporary assumption, yes. It's just that it must be confirmed," added Aprino.

Meanwhile, until now, the police are still waiting for confirmation from the Ciputra Mall (Citraland) Jakarta regarding further investigations into the cause of the fire.

Aprino said that if the Ciputra Jakarta Mall confirmed the investigation of the fire already existed, the police would invite the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency for Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor) to visit and investigate the location of the fire.

"We are waiting from Ciputra's side, until now there has been no confirmation. If for example they ask for a police line to be opened, it means that they think this fire is a disaster. But if we want to know the exact incident, we will call Puslabfor. So now we are still waiting," concluded Aprino.

At the location, it was seen that a number of visitors and workers at Ciputra Mall, Jakarta, were stuck in front of the 2- mall West Lobby because the mall was temporarily closed.
