The Ministry Of Industry Launches A Sustainable Batik Book To Maintain Competitiveness In The Digital Age

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) through the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) launched the book Sustainable Batik: Industry Supply Chain 4.0 and Application of Batik Industry 4.0, today.

The launch of this book is a commitment from the Ministry of Industry to continue to support and develop the batik industry. Given that batik has been designated as an intangible cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on October 2, 2009.

"To maintain competitiveness in the digital era that is increasingly competitive, the concept of sustainability in the batik industry is not only preserving tradition and culture, but also encouraging technological adaptation. Especially in the Industry 4.0 era," said Director of Industry Aneka and IKM Kimia, Sandang and Crafts Directorate General of IKMA of the Ministry of Industry Alexandra Arri Cahyani at the Launching of Books - Sustainable Batik: Industry Supply Chain 4.0 at Kota Kasablanka Mall, South Jakarta, Thursday, October 3.

Alexandra added that the motivation for making this book is also so that small and medium industries (IKM) in regional centers can implement the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Meanwhile, ERP is an information system that integrates business processes (modules) that occur throughout the company in production modules, marketing, accounting, human resources, purchases, logistics and various other business processes.

ERP on the IKM scale can be applied gradually per module until it is integrated according to the characteristics of the batik industry.

"The motivation of making this book is so that IKM-IKM in the regions can implement ERP, yes. Systems for data integration so that their batik ecosystem becomes more efficient and effective," he said.

He said, one of the batik SMEs that had implemented this system was Batik Paradise from Yogyakarta. Thus, said Alexandra, other SMEs can learn from the Paradise Batik.

"We, right, here are taking examples from Batik Paradise. Maybe here as a reference for IKM-IKM friends to be able to use this," he said.

According to Alexandra, SMEs can start slowly to use this system due to limited capital.

"Maybe if we can't understand IKM, the capital is not too big. Maybe it can be partial first, slowly we can use this system to make their production more efficient," he added.

On the same occasion, representative from Batik Paradise Muhammad Karim said that his party received the mandate to become the first batik company to win a standard green industry certificate in 2021.

Then in 2022, Batik Paradise will also become an IKM with the best performance for green industry standards.

"And two weeks ago at the Ministry of Industry event we became the best IKM for the implementation of the green industry with 17 other companies," he said.

Not only that, Karim said, Batik Paradise also received the best halal award for textile and appearance. "Then the new one is to become the role model model for implementation 4.0 which we discussed today," he said.

According to Karim, the most important message is that IKM is able to be an inspiration and motivation for all in the midst of existing limitations.

"So, this is the most important thing for us to convey. We have repeatedly heard that IKM to advance to class must continue to learn, we must complete to advance to curriculum class, to advance to class and even we must be ready to face the test. So, this is our common spirit including implementation 4.0," he explained.
