1,113 People Abandoned Returned By Jakarta Social Service To Their Hometowns

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Social Service in the period January to September 2024 has repatriated 1,113 people who were abandoned to their respective hometowns.

"We took them to the bus pool according to their return destination and departure schedule," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Social Service (Dinsos), Premi Lasari, Thursday, October 3.

The purpose of repatriating displaced people includes Lampung, Tasikmalaya, Cilacap, Semarang and Surabaya.

The repatriation of displaced people in January was 88 people, February (128), March (127), April (111), May (138), June (197), July (1949), August (137 and September 128 people.

Premi explained that the identification and verification process (finger checking and recording), data collection and documentation of displaced persons were carried out before being returned to their area of origin.

After that, an assessment was carried out involving Social Workers, Social Extension Officers and Service Officers, Supervision and Social Control (P3S Task Force).

Then a letter was made to the local government's Social Service for destinations and vehicle tickets. "After that, we took them to the bus pool according to their return destination and departure schedule. Then we did the termination," said Premi.

Criteria for displaced people who can be given repatriation services, namely abandoned due to victims of fraud, victims of criminal acts (such as hypnosis, pickpocketing, etc.), victims who are promised jobs but not paid and the like.

Premi hopes that the repatriation of displaced people will not only be an administrative step, but also a tangible form of social concern and shared responsibility in creating a more humane and just city so that it can create order for the Jakarta environment.
