Different From The Police's Statement, The Attorney For The Suspect For The Dissolution Of The FTA Discussion Calls There Is No Mastermind

JAKARTA - Gregorius Upi, the attorney for the suspect for the disbandment of the Indonesian Forum (FTA) discussion, denied that there were other parties who were called the mastermind behind the action at the Grand Kemang Hotel, South Jakarta.

According to Gregorius, the actions taken by his group at that time were spontaneous after obtaining information from various sources. Because according to him, discussions are considered not to have a permit.

"Our client informed them that they were moving on their own initiative," said Gregorius when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, October 1.

"The goal is more or less the same as the statements of the demonstrators in front of the hotel so that discussion activities are stopped. The suspects want to take concrete actions by directly entering the location of the discussion activities and stopping these activities," he added.

Gregorius said that his client admitted that he regretted his actions. Because for his actions it actually disturbs the community.

"Our client regrets that their actions have resulted in unrest in the community," he concluded.

Information said that the suspect claimed to have received an order to dissolve the FTA discussion. This was conveyed by the Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police, Brigadier General (Pol) Djati Wiyoto Century. He said the two suspects had the initials FEK and GW. Meanwhile, the other three people who are still witnesses are JJ, LW, and MDM.

The police said that FEK played a role in coordinating at the scene. Meanwhile, GW is the perpetrator of property destruction in the hotel. Then, JJ, LW, and MDM are provocateurs of the disbandment of the event.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary said the FEK was ordered to dissolve the FTA discussion.

Therefore, the authorities are investigating the figure who ordered the disbandment.

"On Friday, September 27, 2024, FEK actors received an order (which we are currently investigating) to disperse actions against the government from the FTA, the Diaspora National Gathering with National Figures and Activists which was held on September 28, 2024 at the Grand Kemang Hotel Ballroom which at the time of implementation did not report to the police or notification to the authorities," said Kombes Ade Ary.
