The Ministry Of PUPR Targets The Construction Of The Jakarta Beach Embankment To Be Completed In 2025

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) targets the construction of the Jakarta coastal embankment which is currently being worked on to be completed by 2025.

Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah said that the construction of the beach embankment or national integrated coaltal development (NCICD), which is part of the task of the Ministry of PUPR, is currently entering the completion stage.

"So that our brothers and sisters who are on the beach do not continue to be flooded, the PU has already done what we call the coastal embankment. (Work) PU is a little more, really, hopefully next year it will be finished," said Zainal Fatah when met by reporters at the PUPR Ministry Auditorium, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 1.

The beach embankment that Zainal Fatah means is a embankment attached to the coastline. Later, the embankment is expected to be completely completed next year.

"So, the coastal embankment is a embankment that is tight to the beach. If the sea embankment is carried out at sea. It's a little more, really. Hopefully next year it will be finished," he said.

Regarding embankments, according to the national integrated coal development (NCICD), Zainal Fatah said, the spirit that was built was environmental improvement. In NCICD, the construction of embankments is also divided into several parties.

"I'm just telling how NCICD used to be and what the results were. In NCICD there is a division. This is DKI's job, there is a PU task. Because in 13 rivers, right, it's divided. The task of DKI, God willing, is about half finished. If it's in Public Works, it's even more," he said.

The Jakarta coastal embankment is used to reduce land subsidence in coastal areas. Later, if the coastal embankment fails, the scenario in the NCICD sea embankment must be built immediately.

"For what? Yes, immediately secure it. But if at a certain time it doesn't help, according to the scenario in NCICD first we have to get into the sea embankment. So, there must be a connection," he said.

According to Zainal Fatah, the sea embankment which will be built along the coastline of the island of Java is currently being studied by a team from the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy.

"We may wait for this one later. However, we know that there is a team working at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy. To continue the sea wall along this Pantura," he said.
