Aceh Bireuen District Court Sentenced Dead 3 Smugglers 40 Kilograms Of Shabu
The panel of judges at the Bireuen District Court, Aceh, sentenced three defendants to death for narcotics smuggling with 40 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine as evidence.
The verdict was read out by the panel of judges chaired by Fuady Primaharsa at the trial at the Bireuen District Court in Bireuen, Thursday, September 26.
The three defendants are Nur Afdhal, Syarif Hidayatullah, Muhammad Ibrahim. The verdict of the panel of judges is in accordance with the demands of the public prosecutor which was read out at the previous trial.
The panel of judges stated that the defendants were legally and convincingly proven guilty of violating Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning narcotics.
On this decision, the three defendants through their legal advisors filed an appeal to the Banda Aceh High Court.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bireuen District Attorney's Office, Munawal Hadi, said that the public prosecutor accepted the judge's decision because it was in accordance with the demands read out at the previous trial.
"The public prosecutor accepted the decision because the panel of judges granted the prosecutor's demands," said Munawal Hadi.

Previously, Nur Afdhal and Syarif Hidayatullah were arrested by the NIC Task Force team of the Narcotics Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri on February 15, 2024. Both were arrested in the waters of 15 nautical miles from Peudada, Bireuen Regency.
When arrested, found methamphetamine-type drugs weighing up to 40 kilograms. While other evidence was secured from both of them, namely a motorboat and engine, two mobile phones and a position-determining device or GPS.
Meanwhile, the defendant Muhammad Ibrahim was arrested by the NIC Task Force team of the Directorate of Narcotics Crime, Bareskrim Polri, on the same date.
Muhammad Ibrahim was arrested on the shores of Peluneulet Beach Baroh, Simpang Mamplam District, Bireuen Regency. The arrest of Muhammad Ibrahim was based on the arrests of Nur Afdhal and Syarif Hidayatullah.
