Jokowi Complains That Building a House is Incredibly Complicated, Let Alone a Capital City

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) acknowledged how difficult it is to build Nusantara (IKN) as the new capital city.

According to him, there are many challenges and obstacles that the government must face.

He gave an analogy that building just one house is incredibly complicated.

Moreover, Jokowi continued, building a new capital city that will be the center of a country as big as Indonesia.

"Building a house is so complicated, let alone building a capital city, a country as big as Indonesia, is not something easy and simple. There are many challenges, many obstacles," Jokowi complained as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat YouTube, Wednesday, September 25.

One of the challenges in building the IKN is moving state servants to the new capital city.

Jokowi said that the government must calculate carefully so that the transfer of Civil Servant (ASN) can run smoothly.

"We want to move PNS, our ASN here, we have to calculate," he said.

He said, the calculations in question are so that the Archipelago City has a complete city ecosystem.

Starting from housing, health services, education services to recreation areas.

"We all have to calculate. Where do we sleep? Where do the children go to school? If we are sick, is the hospital ready or not? Where do we take the children to play on Saturdays and Sundays on weekends? This is the ecosystem that we want to build so that it will really run in everyday life like other capital cities," concluded Jokowi.
