KKP Says the FDA For Fish Milk Permit is Still in Process

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is still processing the permit from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (FDA) for fish milk products. Following the fish milk that is planned to be included in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program of the elected President Prabowo Subianto.

Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) Budi Sulistiyo said that his party is still processing the BPOM permit for fish milk products. He admitted that the process had been submitted since 3-4 months ago.

"It's not that it's not yet approved by the FDA, the FDA permit has been submitted several months ago. Well, now it's in process there. Yesterday we pushed together, hopefully, this will be issued soon," said Budi when met at the KKP office, Jakarta, written on Wednesday, September 25.

Budi said that in line with the BPOM certification process, his party continues to strive to socialize fish milk products and their benefits for the community. Including conducting a number of trials.

He admitted that there were no obstacles in the BPOM permit process. Hopefully, the permit can be issued soon.

"3-4 months ago it was just a process. Because it is a process, yes, it has to be tested and everything. The introduction to the community is now in process, hopefully in the near future the permit will be issued," he said.

When asked further regarding the certainty of fish milk entering the MBG program, Budi was reluctant to comment much. However, he said, the proposal for fish milk to be included in the program has been welcomed positively by the Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana.

"Yesterday, the Head of the Nutrition Agency responded positively," he added.

Fish milk is a unique protein drink made from fish meat.

This fish milk is not produced from milked fish, but through a series of sophisticated processes that change fish meat into a highly nutritious drink.
