Menpora Hopes Peparnas 2024 Don't Leave Problems Like PON

JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, hopes that the 2024 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) will not leave any problems.

The event is scheduled to take place on October 6-13, 2024 in Solo, Central Java. A total of 20 sports (sports) will be competed in this quadrennial event.

Menpora wants Peparnas 2024 to run smoothly and unlike the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) which has a pile of problems.

"First, what I have to convey may be the experience of yesterday's Aceh-North PON and this must be prepared, especially PB Peparnas and the City Government and the Provincial Government related to public relations," said Dito.

At the time of the 2024 PON, a number of complicated problems were in the spotlight, such as the athlete's diet, stale food, venue unpreparedness, and damage to venues due to bad weather.

Dito appealed because these two events use the APBN, there needs to be a tight guard, especially screening vendors for food procurement for athletes and officials.

"I hope that the fields at PB Peparnas must ensure their efficiency so that their obesity and human resources must also be competent and focus on match services," he said.

A total of 20 sports that will be in Peparnas later are archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, chess, bicycle racing, football, goalball, judo, weightlifting, shooting, volleyball sitting, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis tennis, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, and e-sports.
