YouTube Launches AI Chatbot to Android Users in the US

JAKARTA – YouTube tested an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based chatbot at the end of last year to make it easier for users to understand the content. After being tested for almost a year, the feature was finally launched.

Through its official account on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, YouTube revealed that this feature has just been launched for all users in the US. This AI-based conversation tool is only available for YouTube Premium subscribers.

"Our conversational AI tool is expanding to all US YouTube Premium members with Android devices. Use this tool to dive deeper into content by asking questions about what you're watching or for recommendations for similar videos," explained YouTube.

In addition to being limited to Premium users, YouTube also limits accounts that can access this feature. YouTube chatbot is only available in English for users over 18 years old. It is not yet known when this feature will be launched on iOS devices.

"This conversation tool lets you get answers to questions about the video you're watching," YouTube said. "To use this tool, you must be using an Android device. Availability may change in the future."

Although launched specifically for Premium users, the feature called Conversational AI Tool is also available for a small number of non-Premium accounts. However, this feature is only available for free on some academic learning videos.

YouTube did not explain when this feature would be expanded to more countries. If this feature has been launched outside the US, users can use the Conversational AI Tool by opening any video they want to play, then clicking the Ask button at the bottom of the video.
