'We Are Tracing,' A Short Answer To The Head Of The DKI Satpol PP Regarding The Finding Of 165 Of His Subordinates Involved In Online Gambling

JAKARTA - Head of DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin responded briefly to the findings of 165 state civil servants (ASN) of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP who were caught playing online gambling. Arifin admitted that he was still tracking it.

"Yes, we'll just trace it. We'll check it first," said Arifin when met at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 23.

Arifin also could not confirm the truth of the 165 names of his subordinates involved in online gambling activities, as found by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

"Yes, the point is in their check, is it true or not. It's what Arifin asked for," said Arifin.

For information, PPATK found 165 ASN in the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP playing online gambling. The DKI Jakarta Inspectorate also sent a letter to the Head of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin to convey the information obtained from PPATK. The letter numbered e.0519/P4.01.00 which was signed on September 10, 2024.

"We hereby convey that based on PPATK data sources, there are 165 ASN in your work environment who are indicated to carry out online gambling activities, with names as attached," wrote DKI Jakarta Inspectorate Secretary Dina Himawati in a letter.

In the letter, it also includes the names of ASN who carry out online gambling activities and the nominal transactions they carry out. The DKI Jakarta Inspectorate also asked Arifin to provide guidance to his employees.

"In this regard, so that you immediately clarify and provide personnel guidance by referring to the provisions governing the discipline and code of ethics of Civil Servants," said Dina.

Some time ago, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono indeed asked the identity data of online gambling players in Jakarta to the Online Judi Eradication Task Force. After obtaining this data, Heru will look for anyone from the DKI Provincial Civil Servants (ASN) and recipients of social assistance (bansos) who play online gambling.

Heru emphasized that he would impose sanctions on ASN DKI Jakarta Provincial Government who were caught playing online gambling. The sanctions are regulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline.
