2 Foreign-Owned Resorts In The Maratua Islands Sealed By KKP And Required To Pay Hundreds Of Million Administration

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) sealed two resorts in the Maratua Islands cluster, Berau, East Kalimantan because they did not have a permit to use small islands.

"Maratiua, which is one of the clusters of outer islands in the country, needs special attention from the government. For this reason, the KKP is here to secure the outer islands to maintain sovereignty," said the Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP Pung Nugroho Saksono when met on Maratua Island, Antara, Thursday, September 19.

The two sealed resorts, namely PT MID and PT NMR do not have licensing documents which include approval for the suitability of sea space utilization activities (PKKPRL), permit for tirta tourism activities without business license and licensing for the use of small islands.

"After we carried out the examination, some of the permits were dead and some were not licensed. So for the management of tirta tourism, it was not licensed. Even earlier we arrived at Naboko Island (to seal)," he also said.

Furthermore, Ipunk as he is familiarly called explained, PT MID, which is located on Maratua Island, is a foreign investment company (foreign investment/PMA) from Malaysia.

Meanwhile, PT NMR, which is still in the Maratua Islands cluster, is a foreign investment company from Germany managed by Swiss residents.

Ipunk appealed to resort managers in Indonesia to take care of a number of permits related to resort operations and give a maximum deadline of one month after sealing before further firm action is taken.

"We give a time limit of one month after that we will act," he said.

Regarding administrative sanctions, PT NMR, which is located on Nabuko Island, will be subject to administrative sanctions of IDR 836.32 million, while PT MID will be subject to administrative sanctions of IDR 405.13 million.

"We hope (the resort managers) can be orderly and don't ignore the rules of this country. The state has rules and our government has rules," he concluded.
