Two Records Break By Joe Aditya At PON 2024
JAKARTA The swimmer Joe Aditya who defended Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Olympics recorded two national records in his successful journey at the XXI Aceh National Sports Week (PON)-North Sumatra 2024.
The latest record he managed to book was the men's 100-meter freestyle gold medal at the Selayang Swimming Pool, Medan, North Sumatra, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, WIB night.
The 23-year-old swimmer made sure to be the best after recording a time of 50.28 seconds in the final. This result shifts the PON record in the name ofestery Fauzi Sidiq when appearing in the 2016 West Java PON with a time of 50.49 seconds.
The record at that time made him ahead of Erick Ahmad Fathoni (West Java) who won silver with a time of 50.70 seconds and Jeremy Elyon Masterganesha Damanik from Central Sulawesi with a time of 50.77 seconds to get bronze.
Prior to that, Joe had already received gold and broke the record on the same name when appearing in the men's 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1 minute 50.35 seconds.

Thailand has held this record for more than a decade since the 2013 SEA Games Naypyidaw, Myanmar. At that timeungy set a record after finishing the race with a time of 1 minute 50.46 seconds.
For the time being, Joe is still listed as the most gold medalist in the 2024 Aceh-North PON swimming sport. Gold in the men's 100 meters freestyle is the sixth gold swimmer registered as the representative of DKI Jakarta.
In addition to the two gold above, Joe Aditya was also recorded to have won gold in the men's 50 meters butterfly, 4 x 200 meters men's relay freestyle, 4 x 100 meters men's relay freestyle, and 100 meters men's butterfly style.
Unfortunately, Joe's successful journey was marked by a claim case involving DKI Jakarta and Central Sulawesi (Sulteng). The problem even wanted to be brought to justice by Central Sulawesi.
The athlete who was born in Jakarta was recorded to have received two identity cards at once at the 2024 PON. This could happen because Joe was registered by DKI Jakarta and Central Sulawesi.
Joe was actually still an athlete in Central Sulawesi when he entered the qualifying round for the 2024 PON. However, that status later died on the basis of a decision made by the Board of Judges of the 2024 PON.
This decision made Joe inevitably have to defend DKI Jakarta, the area he previously represented at the 2021 Papua PON. Joe was disappointed with the decision because since 2022 he has been fostered by Central Sulawesi.
The above problems made Joe refuse to wear a DKI jacket when he got on the podium for a medal. He was seen wearing a black jacket which became the official attribute of the Indonesian contingent when appearing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
