American Citizens Of Jambul Merah Arrested In Lombok For Ordering Illegal Drugs, NTB Police Coordinate With US Consul General

The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police (Polda) coordinated with the United States Consulate General (US Consulate General) regarding the case of its citizen with the initials SRB (51) who underwent legal proceedings for importing hundreds of pills of illegal drugs from India to Lombok Island.

"Because this SRB is an American citizen, of course we are coordinating with the United States Consulate General in Surabaya," said Director of Drug Investigation at the NTB Police, Kombes Deddy Supriadi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 18.

"So, the handling remains in accordance with the procedure. From us, prepare translators, legal advisors, and all equipment in the investigation process until later the file is sent to the prosecutor," he said.

For now, SRB has been a suspect and is undergoing detention at the NTB Police Detention Center for alleged violations of Article 114 paragraph (2) and/or Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

A team from Sub-Directorate I of the Narcotics Directorate of the NTB Police arrested SRB on August 10, 2024 while in a villa in the Central Lombok area. SRB was revealed as ordering illegal drugs for the Karisoprodol and Tapentadol brands from India.

The woman from Uncle Sam's country ordered hundreds of items from Karisoprodol and Tapentadol through a website calledIndiamart.

The number of illegal drugs ordered by SRB from India for branding Karisoprodol is 599 pills which reached a price of 95 US dollars and 110 Tabentadol brands for 105 US dollars.

He said that based on the regulation Number Urut 145 Attachment of the Indonesian Minister of Health Regulation Number 30 of 2023 concerning changes in the classification of narcotics, the two drug brands were included in the class one narcotics category.

"By referring to the regulation and expert examination from BPOM Mataram, investigators conducted a case title and named SRB as a suspect," he said.
