Extreme Rain Damages The Grand Mosque Of Batam, City Government Temporarily Moves Worship Activities
KEPRI - Raja Hamidah Batam Grand Mosque experienced a number of post-storm damage on Tuesday, September 17 evening. Worship activities were temporarily diverted to the mosque beside the building.
Head of the Batam City Cipta Karya and Spatial Planning (CKTR) Office, Azril Apriansyah, said that after the incident, PT Adhi Karya directly inspected and repaired the grave at the dome of the Great Mosque of Raja Hamidah Batam.
"After a break due to strong winds hit Batam City on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, we immediately repaired it," said Azril in his statement, Wednesday, September 18, which was confiscated by Antara.
Regarding the repair, he has not confirmed when it will be completed and can be reused.
"Hopefully it will be finished soon and the congregation can return to their activities at the Great Mosque of Raja Hamidah, Batam City," he said.
Azril said that the damage experienced by the hurricane disaster was still the responsibility of the contractor while checking thoroughly.
"For worship activities at the mosque, it was diverted to a temporary mosque in the Great Mosque area of Raja Hamidah, Batam City," said Azril.

Representative Staff of PT Adhi Karya Batam Andi said the 14-meter-high makatra was broken due to weather factors.
"We will check further (the cause), for now it is absolutely due to natural disasters," said Andi.
