TNI Sweeping In The Aftermath Of Soldiers Being Hit By Drunk In Atambua NTT, Danrem Make Sure Conditions Are Safe

PAPUA - Commander of Korem (Danrem) 161/Wirasakti Brigadier General Joao Xavier Nunes ensured that security conditions in Atambua City, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which borders RI-Timor Leste, are conducive.

This was said by Danrem 161/Wirasakti following the sweeping action of Yonif 744/SYB soldiers after a colleague they died from being hit.

"Yesterday there was a slight misunderstanding by Battalion 744 soldiers, but the name was human, let alone one letter, so the spirit of the corona was high, but now the conditions there are safe," he said after leading the welcoming ceremony for the arrival of the RI-RDTL Pamtas Task Force at Lantamal VII Kupang, NTT, Tuesday, September 17, confiscated by Antara.

The one-star commander said that the death of Prada Yenjelmus Valeri Vatman in Atambua, was hit by a drunk man driving a motorized vehicle.

The incident occurred at 01.30 WITA local time, and this, according to him, should not have happened if he obeyed the rules.

"Therefore, learning from this incident is no longer allowed for Indonesian Army soldiers to roam around at night," he said.

The TNI member who was hit, he said, returned to the headquarters in the early hours of the morning, even though the night rally at 21.00 WITA and at 22.00 WITA the members had to rest or sleep.

Danrem emphasized that the incident was the responsibility of Brigif 21/Komodo and Kodam/IX Udayana, although a number of TNI AD soldiers served in the jurisdiction of Korem 161/Wirasakti.

He said that all soldiers must be disciplined and obedient according to the oath of the eight mandatory TNI soldiers who have been indoctrinated within each other.

He hopes that there will be no more similar incidents, and according to him, these incidents do not have to happen if they obey the rules.

Currently, Prada Yenjelmus Valeri Vatman's body has been handed over to his family for burial in Manggarai Regency.
